The atrophy of empathy continues as Republican House Representatives, their hearts three sizes too small, narrowly jammed through their Trump/MAGA budget proposal, their sights set on $880 billion in cuts to the House Energy and Commerce Committee which oversees health care spending like Medicaid. Brian Fitzpatrick, falling into MAGA line, voted yes, disingenuously insisting in a public statement that “the word Medicaid is not mentioned or addressed anywhere” in this bill. We must hold Fitzpatrick to his slippery word, and hold him accountable if vital health care for all of his constituents is placed on the chopping block. Because it’s not just Medicaid. The House Energy and Commerce Committee also oversees CHIPS, ACA and Medicare, also words that were “not mentioned.” This affects all of us. Call. Write. Email. Make noise. We got this.
