Trump's alternative universe

In 2017 the “alternative fact” was born, invented by then Trump senior adviser Kelly Ann Conway. The alternative fact remains alive and well in Trump’s alternative universe, where tariff is king, and Canada and Mexico will pay. Prices are up, the stock market is down, it’s all Biden’s fault, and tariffs levied on long standing allies are the solution? Ya gotta wonder how Trump passed any econ class at Wharton, and how any of his supporters with any knowledge of the same can promote this claptrap with a straight face. The real consequences of  this alternative universe have already begun. America First is becoming America Alone and Reviled. (and that’s not amore).  Here’s a bit of reality.  Trump tariffs will cost the United States household an additional $1,200 annually (Peterson Institute for International Economics). A 10% tariff on Canadian oil equates to a 16 cent increase per gallon at the pump. A new car will cost up to $8,000 more. Lumber comes from Canada, builders need lumber,  housing costs will rise. Potash, a major fertilizer for American farmers, comes from Canada. Do the math. There are no winners here. And Trump doesn’t care (he just needed your vote). The real information is out there. It is up to us to promote that, to share it. To  elucidate and educate.  Call, write, protest. Make noise. Make our voices heard. We got this.
