It is scary to think that George (Call me Ish) Santos, serial embellisher, may still go to Washington. The lies - sorry - embellishments - are being exposed: Jew-ish, son of immigrants-ish, Baruch graduate-ish, Goldman Sachs employee-ish, the ish-list goes on, yet despite all indications that Santos is little more than a pathological liar, the Republican outcry is muted at best. Kevin McCarthy, House Leader Wannabee, remains silent even as a few of his Republican colleagues attempt to muster some semblance of moral outrage. Should we be surprised? Let’s not forget Kellyanne Conway’s “alternative facts” in defense of Sean Spicer’s false statement about attendance numbers at Trump’s Presidential Inauguration. If Santos takes office, this serial liar’s word is worthless. There is no integrity, there can be no trust. A Santos seat in the House of Representatives will be an empty chair, useful for McCarthy in his quest to craft a fragile Republican majority, but hugely unfair and unethical to the people who voted for Santos, and certainly to those who did not. Santos should resign, stand down and step away. Shame on all of us if we stand by and let this travesty of a candidate serve office.
